Corsica Sole had the honour of celebrating the inauguration of the Dommartin-lès-Remiremont solar power plant.
On Thursday, 6 June 2024, Corsica Sole had the honour of celebrating the inauguration of the new solar power plant in Dommartin-lès-Remiremont alongside the Communauté de Communes de la Porte des Vosges Méridionales (CCPVM), local residents and students from the Lycée Général et Technologique André Malraux.
French expertise and respect for the environment
With its 12,000 solar panels, 5.5 GWh of annual production, 1,200 households supplied with electricity and 1,800 tonnes of CO₂ avoided each year, the Dommartin-lès-Remiremont solar power plant represents a major achievement in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and local energy autonomy.
Located on a former 6.7-hectare industrial site, this solar power plant is the result of the rehabilitation of an industrial wasteland. Winner of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s Innovation tender, it uses bifacial panels supplied by Photowatt, optimised by the reflection on the gravelly ground.
Built by Omexom, a VINCI subsidiary, this power plant showcases French expertise and respect for the environment. Strict measures have been put in place to preserve local biodiversity, including the protection of the plover. An agreement with the French National Forestry Office (ONF) reinforces the project’s local and sustainable roots.
Synergistic collaboration with local stakeholders
The Dommartin-lès-Remiremont solar power plant project is the result of four years of consultation with public authorities and residents. This collaboration demonstrates Corsica Sole’s ability to transform abandoned spaces into sources of renewable energy, while taking into account the concerns and needs of the local community.
That is why, in parallel with the inauguration, we organised an educational visit for students from the André Malraux General and Technological High School. This visit raised awareness among young people about renewable energies and their role in building a more sustainable future. Local residents also had the opportunity to take part in a special visit where they were able to see the plant in operation.
Strengthening local energy independence and improving the living environment for local residents
Ms Catherine Louis, President of the CCPVM, emphasised that the Dommartin-lès-Remiremont power plant could stabilise electricity costs and bring direct benefits to the local population. The Senator for the Vosges, Mr Daniel Gremillet, also spoke, emphasising the importance of this project for the energy transition of the region. He concluded his speech by saying: “Today, the sun is shining on the park and in our hearts thanks to this project. ”
We are very proud of this new solar power plant in eastern France and would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition. We would also like to reaffirm our conviction that a more sustainable future can be built in close collaboration with local stakeholders.
