Corsica Sole launches construction of its first solar power plant in Pithiviers, Loiret
Press releases
Corsica Sole, a French solar energy producer and European leader in energy storage, is proud to announce the start of construction work on its new solar power plant in Pithiviers, Loiret (45).
This plant, which will produce 14 GWh of electricity per year, will transform a former industrial wasteland into a source of renewable and sustainable energy for the residents of the Loiret. Located on an 11-hectare site, it will consist of 19,000 photovoltaic panels with an installed capacity of 12MWp. Commissioning is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
As a recognised developer in France and Europe, Corsica Sole is consolidating its growth and its commitment to the energy transition of the regions.
A new solar power plant for the Loiret region
This ambitious project aims to rehabilitate a former 11-hectare industrial site, once used for fertiliser production. Following initial investments by the former owner, TIMAC AGRO, a subsidiary of the Roullier group, to make the site compatible with photovoltaic activities, the land is now ready for a new lease of life. Corsica Sole will transform this previously unusable site into a source of renewable and sustainable energy.
With an installed capacity of 12 MWp, this power plant will produce 14 GWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 6,000 inhabitants.
French expertise at the service of the environment
The 19,000 solar panels installed on this site use the latest and most efficient technologies available on the market. Mounted on longrines, i.e. raised concrete foundations, these structures make it possible to build a solar power plant without having to anchor the foundations in the ground, thus preserving the integrity of the land. For this project, Corsica Sole is partnering with Sireos, a company specialising in the engineering, procurement and construction of photovoltaic power plants. Thanks to the combined expertise of Corsica Sole and Sireos, this solar power plant will benefit from an optimised design and high-quality implementation, ensuring sustainable and reliable energy production.
A winning project in the PPE2 Neutral tender
Corsica Sole won the PPE 2 Neutral tender in December 2023, confirming the relevance of this project. The Pithiviers plant will contribute significantly to the local and national energy transition, while offering a sustainable solution for the rehabilitation of a former industrial site.
A collaboration with SICAP
The electricity produced will be distributed by SICAP, the Société coopérative d’Intérêt Collectif Agricole (Agricultural Cooperative Society) of the Pithiviers region, the local network operator, which plays a key role in electricity distribution by providing reliable and sustainable energy to its customers. This collaboration will strengthen the integration of renewable energies into the local network.
Respectful integration into the landscape
In addition to its energy contribution, the project includes strict environmental measures to preserve the local ecosystem. A landscape hedge will be planted around the site to minimise visual impact and promote biodiversity. To ensure environmental safety, Corsica Sole plans to establish an exclusion zone for landfill.
Start of construction and commissioning
Construction work has begun, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
We are proud to be transforming this industrial wasteland into a modern solar power plant that meets the region’s energy needs while respecting the environment. This project illustrates our ongoing commitment to the energy transition and our desire to provide sustainable solutions for local communities.
