Corsica Sole will operate two rooftops for the City Hall of Saint-Denis on Reunion Island

News

Saint-Denis de La Réunion will be the first local authority to collaborate with Corsica Sole. Corsica Sole will build two large photovoltaic roofs, combined with storage solutions, on public buildings in the municipality.

In May 2017, the municipality launched a call for projects to equip the Moufia gymnasium and the Chaudron municipal garage with solar roofs. Barely three months later, the CRE selected Corsica Sole to build these two roofs. These power plants will ultimately consist of the photovoltaic system as well as a battery storage system that will be coupled to them. Corsica Sole will remain responsible for the operation and maintenance of these two power plants.

With a surface area of 1,200 m², each 250 kWp installation will be able to produce around 400 MWh/year and will have a storage capacity of around 400 KWh. This will enable the energy produced to be fed back into the grid at peak consumption times, helping to optimize the management of the island’s electricity grid. Commissioning is scheduled for 2020.

Already present in Corsica, Provence, and Martinique, Corsica Sole is now setting foot in Réunion and confirming its position as a specialist in photovoltaics in island areas.

After building dozens of agricultural sheds with less than 100 kWp, we have made the installation and operation of large roofs a priority. We are also particularly pleased to be entering into a partnership with a local community. Closely involving communities in each of our projects has always been part of our DNA! Helping them to acquire clean energy is therefore perfectly in line with our philosophy.
