Beuvry Mill Festival: a day dedicated to solar energy

On Sunday 18 May, the Beuvry Mill Festival offered residents and visitors a great opportunity to learn about the challenges of the energy transition. Through fun and educational activities, young and old alike were introduced to solar energy.

One of the highlights of the day was the tour of our solar power plant, which attracted nearly 100 visitors. They were able to take an interactive look behind the scenes of renewable energy production. This gave everyone a better understanding of the steps involved in converting solar energy into electricity.

Visitors also explored the facilities on their own. Thanks to the permanent educational panels, the experience was both enriching and accessible. These panels clearly explain the technologies used and the benefits of solar energy for a sustainable future.

In addition to the tours and workshops, visitors also had the opportunity to enjoy a friendly atmosphere, enhanced by the presence of sheep and rabbits on the site. These animals brought a touch of nature and fun to families, making the day even more enjoyable.

Drawing competition: children imagine their solar city

The day also featured a drawing competition on the theme of ‘The Sun gives energy to my city’. More than 20 children enthusiastically took part, expressing their creativity and their vision of solar energy through their artwork.

The children showed great imagination in representing the impact of solar energy in their daily lives. Their drawings covered a variety of topics: nature, houses equipped with photovoltaic panels, sustainable cities, and even an ecological future. Each work expressed their positive vision of a more environmentally friendly future.

A jury then selected five winners. The criteria used were originality, relevance and artistic quality. Congratulations to them! And well done to all the children for taking part.

Each winner received a prize in recognition of their talent, and their drawings were exhibited during the festival, allowing all visitors to discover their work.

We would like to warmly thank all the participants for their enthusiasm and curiosity. Thank you also to the Beuvry Town Hall for organising this successful event, which brought the community together around the themes of the environment and sustainable energy.

The day was a real success, combining awareness-raising, discovery and conviviality, and we are delighted to be contributing to the construction of a more responsible and sustainable energy future.
