Inauguration of the Pithiviers solar power plant

Press releases

On 16 September 2025, Corsica Sole inaugurated the Pithiviers solar power plant in the Loiret region. Built on 11 hectares of a former fertiliser factory, it transforms an industrial wasteland into a renewable energy production site. In doing so, it supports the energy transition and local development.

A solar power plant serving the region

With an installed capacity of 12 MWp and nearly 20,000 solar panels, the Pithiviers power plant produces approximately 14 GWh of carbon-free electricity each year, equivalent to the consumption of 9,000 inhabitants – the entire population of the town.

To limit land artificialisation, the project chose a site that had already been artificialised. In addition, the panels are mounted on longlines. This protects the soil and local biodiversity.

Transforming an industrial wasteland into a carbon-free solar power plant was an obvious choice. This project shows that it is possible to combine energy transition, land conservation and local development.

A collective and locally supported project

The project was carried out thanks to the collaboration of several partners: SIREOS, SICAP, SG, Monte Cristo Advisory and Greensolver. The power plant also benefited from the support of local and institutional players.

At the inauguration, the sub-prefect of Pithiviers, Véronique Troadec, praised the project, saying that it ‘perfectly embodies national ambitions’ and demonstrates that ‘innovation and sustainable development can go hand in hand’.

Raising awareness among younger generations

As part of European Sustainable Development Week, the power plant opened its doors to nearly 250 pupils from four primary schools in Pithiviers.

Each child received an educational booklet and took part in a fun workshop on how a solar power plant works. And thanks to the Soren educational kit, we were able to explain to them how solar panels are recycled at the end of their life.

These initiatives help to instil environmental awareness in younger generations. This means that, from an early age, they can become active participants in the energy transition.

Corsica Sole’s commitment

For Corsica Sole, this project goes beyond simply producing electricity. It illustrates a broader mission: to support regions in moving towards a sustainable energy future. This involves technological innovation, respect for the environment and education.

With the Pithiviers solar power plant, Corsica Sole reaffirms its conviction that the energy future is being built today, with and for future generations.
