Inauguration of the Cirey-sur-Vezouze solar power plant: an industrial wasteland transformed into an engine for the future
Press releases
On Thursday 19 June 2025, Corsica Sole inaugurated its new photovoltaic power plant in Cirey-sur-Vezouze (Meurthe-et-Moselle), a flagship project for regional redevelopment and energy transition.
Built on a former 18th-century industrial wasteland, this power plant illustrates the ability of rural areas to reinvent themselves by reconciling local development, land conservation and respect for the environment.
A solar project at the heart of current issues
While the National Assembly was debating a moratorium on renewable energy projects, Corsica Sole chose to move forward with a locally supported project. A concrete response to strong public demand: according to OpinionWay, 87% of French people have a favourable opinion of solar energy and 59% say they are ready to equip their homes with it*.
A project supported by local stakeholders
The inauguration brought together more than 70 participants, including representatives of the State and local authorities.
All praised the quality of the partnership, the ecological dimension of the project and its positive impact on the community.
It is very satisfying to see this solar power plant being built on the site of the former 4.2-hectare brownfield site dating back to the Saint-Gobain era. Thank you for this wonderful achievement for our residents
The Cirey-sur-Vezouze project is truly exemplary. It is an industrial wasteland on which it was difficult to envisage anything. The environment was suitable, and the footprint remained modest
This project perfectly illustrates what can be achieved by combining energy transition, land conservation and local development
Local production must go hand in hand with local consumption, but also with a complete ecosystem. This project is valuable, and I hope it will inspire others
A complex project, an exemplary achievement
With an installed capacity of 5.4 MWp, the plant is based on 8,700 solar panels spread over 4.2 hectares. It will produce 6.1 GWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 3,500 people, including heating. It is scheduled to come into service in the summer of 2025.
The success of the project is based on:
Rigorous management of environmental issues, with the creation of habitats for the bats present on the site
Major rehabilitation work on an industrial wasteland
Effective coordination of public services
At Corsica Sole, we love challenges (…) This project symbolises our ability to transform constraints into sustainable opportunities
French expertise at the service of transition
The power plant was built in partnership with Sireos, a French company specialising in the construction of photovoltaic power plants. Particular attention was paid to biodiversity and landscape integration. In addition, crowdfunding enabled local residents to become involved in the project, combining ecology and local investment.
A project focused on the future… and younger generations
To mark the inauguration, an educational visit was organised for 60 pupils from the primary school in Cirey-sur-Vezouze, accompanied by educational panels to raise awareness of the energy transition. A second visit enabled local residents to discover the facilities and discuss the benefits of the project.

Solar energy becomes a source of inspiration
To round off the day, a mural was created by the artist OJAN, in collaboration with local residents. Inspired by the rising sun, it adds a poetic and human touch to the heart of the power station, symbolising a brighter future.
