Inauguration of the solar smart grid in Alata

Located in Alata, 20 kilometers north of Ajaccio in southern Corsica, this Solar Smart Grid developed and operated by Corsica Sole and built by Cofely Ineo combines a 4.4 MWp ground-mounted photovoltaic power plant equipped with 13,450 Sunpower photovoltaic modules with an innovative 4.3 MWh storage solution and intelligent energy management system, which includes:

• Lithium-ion battery storage technology;
• An energy conversion device;
• An intelligent control system that monitors and adjusts the power produced in real time.

Surplus production during very sunny hours is stored and then fed back into the grid during hours when there is less sunshine. This smooths out peaks and troughs, stabilizing production and freeing it from both weather fluctuations and peaks in demand. Alata’s Solar Smart Grid thus makes it possible to anticipate and stabilize solar energy production.

This innovative power plant, which combines solar energy production and smart management, was inaugurated in the presence of Yann Rolland, CEO of Cofely Ineo, ENGIE Group, and Paul Giaccobi, President of the Executive Council of Corsica.

Its production will cover the electricity consumption of more than 1,000 households in Corsica.
