Commissioning of two new rooftop solar power stations on Réunion.

News

Corsica Sole is continuing its expansion in Réunion with the commissioning of two new rooftop solar power stations: on the roofs of Oasis Secondary School in Le Port, and on the roofs of Plateau Goyave Secondary School in Saint-Louis.

As winners of the 2019 CRE4 ZNI tender, these installations demonstrate the company’s commitment to local, carbon-free electricity generation in Non-Interconnected Areas.

Two projects supporting Réunion’s energy transition

In recent weeks, Corsica Sole has commissioned its two largest rooftop solar power stations on Réunion.

On 15 April, the plant at Oasis Secondary School in Le Port, with an installed capacity of 820 kWp, was commissioned.

Then, in the south of the island, on 5 June, the plant at Plateau Goyave Secondary School in Saint-Louis, with an installed capacity of 716 kWp, was commissioned.

Both projects were successful bidders in the CRE4 ZNI 2019 tender and form part of the Négawatt plan led by the Réunion Departmental Council.

Making the most of existing buildings

By fitting solar power plants onto the roofs of these schools, Corsica Sole is making use of previously unused space to generate renewable electricity as close as possible to where it is needed.

These projects contribute to the development of local energy production in a non-interconnected zone (ZNI), where balancing electricity generation and consumption is a major challenge.

Accelerating the development of renewable energy in Réunion

With these two new installations coming online, Corsica Sole reaffirms its commitment to the energy transition in Réunion and continues to roll out photovoltaic solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of island territories.
