Job description

Within the Operations Department, reporting to the Operations Engineering sub-division and under the responsibility of the BESS Engineering Manager, you will hold the position of BESS Engineer.
You will be responsible for ensuring the technical quality of BESS power plants during both the project structuring and execution phases.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the technical quality of BESS projects from the end of the development phase through to commissioning (COD/MSI);
  • Carrying out, initiating, delegating and monitoring all technical studies required to optimise project design;
  • Preparing and/or reviewing technical specifications for project tenders;
  • Reviewing and technically assessing bids received (EPC contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, etc.);
  • Challenging the design and sizing studies produced by partners in order to optimise BESS plants (equipment selection, system architecture, design consistency, etc.);
  • Supporting the Project Manager in monitoring and carrying out technical audits;
  • Organising, reviewing and validating preliminary design, detailed design and execution documents provided by partners;
  • Managing performance reviews during the commissioning phases of BESS plants;
  • Managing external technical consultants on large-scale projects (Owner’s Engineer, project management assistance, etc.);
  • Coordinating technical exchanges with inspection bodies, where required;
  • Ensuring technical feedback and lessons learned at the end of projects;
  • Supporting the request for, or revision of, grid connection studies;
  • Carrying out technology watch activities within a defined area of expertise.

Profile sought

You hold an engineering degree and have at least 5 years’ experience in stationary energy storage (batteries and/or other technologies).

You have a degree in electrical engineering, power engineering, or a Master’s degree (MSc) in electrical engineering or renewable energies, with experience in the renewable energy, storage, transmission and/or electricity distribution sectors.

A specialisation or background in smart grids or energy storage systems would be an asset.

You have strong expertise in dynamic performance simulation of power systems, using tools such as MATLAB, PSCAD and DIgSILENT.

You are familiar with control architectures for integrating renewable energies into the grid.

You also have experience in the following studies:

  • PQ diagrams,
  • Load flow studies,
  • Short-circuit studies.

Curious and innovation-oriented, you have a solid understanding of battery technologies and a strong interest in developments within the renewable energy and grid services markets.

Professional-level English proficiency is essential.

With excellent organisational skills, you are able to manage priorities effectively and run multiple projects in parallel. Dynamic and rigorous, you work autonomously while maintaining a strong team spirit.

You have a good command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

You have a genuine interest in following developments in the energy sector and raw materials markets.
