Pieve Rooftop power plants – donated Building (Corsica)

Solar energyIn operationCorsica

Located in Palasca, in Haute-Corse, the Pieve rooftop solar power plant illustrates the harmonious combination of agricultural modernisation and the energy transition. Commissioned in 2024, this 100 kWp photovoltaic installation is built on an agricultural hangar provided to the local farmer at no cost.

A project rooted in the Palasca territory

The 219 solar panels cover a surface area of 535 m², generating approximately 140 MWh of renewable electricity per year, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 80 people, including heating. This local production helps reduce the territory’s energy dependence while making productive use of existing agricultural land.

Built at the heart of the Pieve agricultural holding in Palasca, Haute-Corse, the solar rooftop blends seamlessly into the rural landscape while actively contributing to the territory’s energy transition.

A solar hangar tailored to the needs of the farm

Beyond its energy function, the solar rooftop also serves as a fully fledged agricultural facility. The photovoltaic structure enables the farmer to meet key livestock needs by:

  • Sheltering the herd in both summer and winter, improving animal comfort and safety,
  • Providing storage space for fodder and equipment,
  • Benefiting from a fully functional building with no upfront investment, thanks to the turnkey building model offered by Corsica Sole.

This approach reflects Corsica Sole’s commitment to delivering solar solutions that address real, on-the-ground needs, supporting agricultural activity while producing local, renewable energy.

A win–win model for the territory

The Pieve project highlights a successful complementarity between agriculture and renewable energy production.

By integrating into existing farming activity, the solar rooftop:

  • strengthens territorial resilience,
  • contributes to reducing the carbon footprint,
  • enhances the value of agricultural land without artificialising it,
  • directly supports farmers by improving their day-to-day working conditions.

This model demonstrates how farmers can become key players in tomorrow’s food and energy sovereignty, by hosting sustainable solutions firmly rooted in their territory.

Testimony from the farmer

Corsica Sole offered to install a photovoltaic hangar on my land free of charge.

They retain the electricity produced, but the hangar belongs to me and is extremely useful: it allows me to shelter my herd and store fodder or equipment protected from the weather.

It is a good example of a win–win partnership: they produce renewable energy, and I benefit from a functional building without having to invest
