Site visit: an industrial wasteland in Loiret becomes the Pithiviers solar power plant.
The Pithiviers solar power plant: an industrial wasteland transformed into a source of renewable energy
The Pithiviers solar power plant, located in the Loiret department, symbolises a major step forward in the local energy transition. This green energy production project, led by Corsica Sole in partnership with Sireos and supported by SICAP, is transforming a former 11-hectare industrial wasteland into a renewable energy production site.
A unifying site visit
A recent site visit brought together local elected officials, municipal services, technical partners and the media. This opportunity for discussion allowed the progress of the project to be presented and strengthened the involvement of local stakeholders in this renewable energy project.
Thanks to the installation of 19,000 photovoltaic panels, the plant will produce nearly 14 GWh of green electricity each year. This production is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption (including heating) of 9,000 people. As a result, it will help reduce the carbon footprint and strengthen the energy independence of the Loiret region.
Technology at the service of the environment
The solar panels are mounted on longlines, a technique that preserves soil quality. In addition, a landscape hedge will be planted around the perimeter of the site to promote local biodiversity and limit the visual impact on the surrounding landscape.
A model of local sustainable development
This photovoltaic power plant project in Pithiviers demonstrates how regions can enhance the value of neglected spaces and turn them into levers for sustainable development.
Thanks to a concerted and environmentally friendly approach, this initiative embodies a successful local energy transition, part of a dynamic of green reindustrialisation.
