The challenges of energy storage – Corsica Sole press conference
Energy storage has become a strategic issue for the success of the energy transition. This press conference presented:
- The latest innovation in this field—the autonomous storage plant that Corsica Sole commissioned last June. It is connected to the public electricity grid and is remotely controlled. It opens up new possibilities for overcoming the intermittency of renewable energies and regulating the frequency of the electricity grid during peaks and troughs in energy consumption.
- The core of solar energy management with Corsica Sole’s EMS (Energy Management System): software that ensures real-time, remote energy arbitration (charging or discharging). It capitalizes on more than seven years of use and is regularly enhanced with new applications.
- Other existing energy storage applications: a solar station for recharging electric vehicles and a photovoltaic power plant with storage.
Corsica Sole is the leading energy storage operator in France and one of the leaders in photovoltaics in non-interconnected areas (NIAs). The company pioneered energy storage in France by commissioning a photovoltaic power plant with storage in 2015 and inventing and developing the concept of solar mobility.
Corsica Sole is now the only operator with expertise in the various applications of storage: autonomous storage, smart grid arbitrage, photovoltaic storage, photovoltaic and wind storage, and photovoltaic + storage for electric car charging stations.
The rapidly growing company operates nearly 100 MWp of photovoltaic power and more than 60 MWh of power plants with energy storage. Corsica Sole is developing a portfolio of projects totaling nearly 1GW for the coming years.
