Two new power plants: Corsica Sole consolidates its leadership in Corsica

News

And that makes three for Corsica Sole! The company is accelerating its development on the island. It has commissioned two new photovoltaic power plants in Corsica, in Folelli and Aghione. With a combined capacity of 24 MWp, they constitute the largest program undertaken by Corsica Sole to date. After building the Alata plant in 2015, the company is now establishing itself as one of the main players in clean energy on the island and as a specialist in photovoltaics in non-interconnected areas.

Commissioned in June 2017, these two solar power plants were built in the Aléria plain on the east coast. The Follelli power plant, between Bastia and Aléria, is equipped with 75,000 photovoltaic panels. The Aghione plant, near Aléria, has 74,000. Each has a capacity of around 12 MWp.

Corsica Sole managed the entire project, including financial structuring and project management, and is now responsible for the operation and maintenance of these plants.

This represents a total investment of €30 million. To finance the project, Corsica Sole enlisted the support of two financial partners: Mirova, a management company dedicated to sustainable investment and a subsidiary of Natixis, and SAARLb, a German bank. The electricity produced will be sold to EDF, with a 20-year purchase commitment, as is standard for projects of this type.
